Support for Partners During and After Pregnancy
At House of Grace, we believe every person is worthy of love, dignity, and support.
We’re here for partners navigating pregnancy — whether the pregnancy is unplanned, continuing, or has ended through abortion or loss.
Our Pregnancy Partner Support provides a safe, understanding space for you to talk, process, and find resources.

Support for Partners Facing Unplanned Pregnancy
An unexpected pregnancy can feel overwhelming for both partners. You may be experiencing a mix of emotions — confusion, fear, anxiety, or hope.
While only your partner can make the final decision about her pregnancy, most women don’t want to face that decision alone. Your support matters.
Here’s how you can help:
Give Emotional Support
Remind your partner that you’re there for her, no matter what. She needs to know she isn’t alone.
Process Together
Talk openly about your feelings, fears, and hopes — without interrupting or judging. If you’re struggling to communicate, our Client Advocates can meet with you together or separately to help facilitate healthy conversations.
Don’t Pressure Her
You may want a particular outcome, but it’s important not to pressure your partner. Focus on being a supportive, caring presence during a difficult time.
If the Pregnancy Continues
Whether your partner chooses parenting or adoption, here’s how you can offer meaningful support:
-
Practical Help: Offer to cook, clean, run errands, or help prepare for the baby.
-
Attend Appointments: Join her for medical visits and ultrasounds when possible.
-
Learn Together: Read about pregnancy and birth so you know what to expect and how to support her during labour and beyond.
Frequently Asked Questions

What’s some quick, practical advice?
Be present, help with practical needs, and show empathy. Offer to attend appointments and gather information together.
What should I avoid doing?
Don’t pressure or withdraw. Avoid ultimatums or judgments.
How can I help right now?
Encourage your partner to reach out to House of Grace for Pregnancy Options Support. You’re both welcome to come together or separately.

If the Pregnancy Ends in Abortion
Some women feel relief after an abortion; others may struggle emotionally in the days or weeks that follow.
You can help by:
-
Listening without trying to “fix” her feelings
-
Offering comfort and presence
-
Helping with daily tasks or planning relaxing activities
-
Encouraging her to reach out for After Abortion Support if she wants to talk to someone beyond you
Many women appreciate the chance to process with a neutral, trained listener rather than feeling they’re burdening their partner.
